GREETINGS FROM CHILLY BEACH!

Thought I'd share this great photo with you. I especially love that seagull perched on the distant jetty, safe from the dog's curious gaze. I love the many lines intersecting, the anonymity of the subjects, but action nonetheless. It's not quite a quilt, but I'm not sure why. Something missing, but what? Perhaps if I gave it whatever it needs it would be a successful quilt. So, what does it need? Is it too dull, and just needs more color? Too hazy, needing more clarity? Ah well, guess I'll have to take some more pics next time I go to the beach. I'm revving up for a beach scene...

Lil' guy probably wondering why I keep telling him he can't go swimming!

QUILT TOP IN RECORD TIME

This is what I did yesterday and today. Kids have been sick so they sleep more. I've been eyeing a few of these fabrics that I purchased before I began quilting, when I used to make dresses for my girls. They've just been in my stash way too long and frankly I'm sick of them. So, who had a girl? AHA, my friend Jackie and I owe her a gift, but she had told me she had some blankets - not quilts - for her baby already. After seeing how it came out I'm glad I didn't listen! I love it. I got rid of some fabric, and I finally got to use some of those depression era fabrics. I would've loved more orange, but I discovered I only have bright and obnoxious oranges, not subdued or pastels. And so the stash cycle continues.

Here's a close up outside. This would have made a great "trip around the world." But I was looking for fast. This is my first quilt for a girl, come to think of it. I'd like to make one of those for my daughters - it's time they got some quilts, too. I'm just nervous as I've not made a twin size yet!
